Charging your Gopro – All you need to Know

Charging your gopro is inevitable – Because the battery life of a gopro battery is between 1.5 – 2 hours depending on many factors, such as the weather condition, the recording setting and the Camera model.

That why sometime its always a smart idea to bring with you a bunch of extra batteries if you plan to shoot some time-laspe.

How long does a GoPro battery last?

After surfing the net, and comparing it with the data provided by GoPro  A gopro Battery under in ideal conditions, will have this values:-

  • GoPro Hero6                  –   1h 40m
  • GoPro Hero5 Black       –   2h
  • GoPro Hero5 Session   –   1h 35m

  • GoPro Hero4 Silver       –   1h 40m

But in cold weather conditions, you will have a negative impact on the performance of the battery and a much lower values.

Absolutely yes, you can charge your gopro Hero7 or Hero 6 with a power bank that can output at least 5v/2A. Can you leave GoPro charging all night?

Sometime you wonder, If you charge your camera battery over night, will it damage the battery? The answer is simple – Gopro Batteries generally take a couple hours to fully charge, when the do – The GoPro camera will turn off the red light. However its not considered a good idea to keep a lithium battery plugged in all night because this will reduce the charging cycles. Though I’ve kept mine on the charger over night plenty of times because I think gopro have built in Smart charging features that cut the circuit when the battery is fully charged.
